Some Old Work
This early example
of my GIS work shows the basics regarding map making etiquette while also
utilizing core GIS map making processes. This map has all the basic elements, a
locator map, North arrow, scale bar, title, legend, caption and citations. The
map follows the basic premise of eye-movement as the viewer tends to look from
the left to right and then down allowing for a swift flow of information. Within the map we see 2020 Decennial Census data gathered from ArcGIS online, a
Pinellas County Boundary extent from Pinellas County itself, and the prior data
joined together. The data is symbolized with a color gradient according to the
data of it's block group and grouped together via Natural Breaks to accurately
display which areas contain the largest groups of residents aged 65 or older.
The results are as follows:
